The modern history of the city

No other part of Baden has changed as much over the last 125 years as "Baden Nord", the northern part of the city. Historical factories stand next to modern and contemporary buildings. An exciting tour for fans of architecture of all levels.

Architecture in Baden North Highlights
Modern architecture, the vocational schools BBB and Martinsberg as well as the Merker site

Meeting point: Brown Boveri Platz square
Duration: 2 hours

The tour starts at Brown-Boveri-Platz, the square in front of the building of the Regionalwerke Baden, an important witness of modernity. Past the "Power Tower", we continue to the new building of the vocational training school BBB and finally to the remodeled community centre "Martinsberg", a showpiece of post-war modernism and at the same time one of the most outstanding buildings of the 1950s. The stroll along Martinsbergstrasse ends in the Merker site, a former factory property that has become a centre of creativity thanks to its new, colourful mix of tenants.
