Your Summer Place to be

With temperatures climbing above the 20-degree mark already in the morning, shady spots are definitively needed. Fortunately, Baden offers a number of cool spots.
Where to cool off...

Along the Limmat

A stroll along the Limmat promenade is a must during summertime in Baden. Over and over again, you will come across a cosy spot. Our hidden gem: A charming spot just in front of the ThiK invites you to linger for a while.

Lake Kappi is just about the corner from the city centre. After a quick bike ride or a walk, it offers plenty of space for fun and games in and around the water. Its highlight is the small island in the middle of the lake, where you can find fireplaces, benches and tables. This is where you can spend your entire summer...

Under shady trees

When the sun blazes down in the afternoon, Baden's charming parks offer a cool getaway in the shade. They attract with green meadows and large trees. Whether in the Kurpark by the bubbling fountain or under the imposing trees in the garden of Villa Boveri: Baden's parks are a wonderful place to relax, play and picnic.
Our hidden gem: a visit to the old city cemetery park. There's a fun playground for the little ones, including ping-pong tables, as well as plenty of peace and quiet for the grown-ups, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

In Baden's forest

It only takes 15 minutes to get from Baden city centre to the forest. A hiking trail leads to the feet of the Kreuzliberg, to the Teufelskeller (the devils cellar). The area has been a nature reserve since 1989. In addition to the official hiking trail hidden paths for young and old adventurers are leading the way to many generous barbecue areas.
If you fancy a glance over the city, try the Chänzeli-Tour. The panoramic city hike guides you to four scenic lookouts over Baden.

On airy summits

For those who want to reach for the sky, an excursion to Baldegg is recommended. Whether alone or with the whole family, the local recreation area promises to cool you down. If you feel like getting some exercise, follow the many walking and hiking trails in the nearby forest. If you rather want to soak up the sun, you can linger on the terrace of the Baldegg restaurant. Right next door there is an adventurous playground where children can let off a little steam.
The Liegehalle-Beizli is even more relaxed. Those in need of peace and quiet can recharge their batteries undisturbed.

In cool water

There's nothing better than enjoying a dip in the pool at the Terrassenbad aquatic centre on a hot summer's day. The spacious sunbathing lawn offers both sun and shade. Whether you relax and enjoy the magnificent view of the Stein castle, play a game of beach volleyball or are one of the brave ones who dare to jump off the 10-metre board - the hours spent in the terrace pool will brighten up your summer.
By the way: During the summer months (June until August), the city library reads storybooks to the little ones on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, if the weather allows.
