Once around the world

Did you know? In Baden you can try dishes from all over the world – without having to go far. Here are some irresistible restaurant tips:

Thailand: Phra Nakhon

The Thai Restaurant Phra Nakhon is located in one of the most beautiful corners of Baden, right on the rapids of the Limmat. At the exclusive Phra Nakhon, you will be treated to quality Thai cuisine (locally sourced where possible). True to the motto 'good food, good life'. The menu is small but varied and will impress you with its Thai dishes. To start, Chef Joy recommends classic Thai soups such as Tom Kha Kai (chicken) or Tom Yam Gung (prawns). Highly recommended for main courses: Kaeng Phet Kai - red Thai curry with chicken or the famous Pad Thai Kung. Don't be afraid of the heat! The degree of spiciness is adjusted to the guests' wishes.

Japan: Yuki Kun

Sushi master Yuki Arai is all about authentic Japanese specialities. His cosy restaurant «Yuki Kun» (eng. Yuki, the Friend) located on Rathausgasse offers the complete package for fans of the Japanese lifestyle: colourful sushi and sashimi platters, hearty ramen from Yuki's grandmother's recipe, spicy U-Don noodles, sweet Japanese desserts and refreshing drinks like ramune and sake. A wide selection of vegetarian dishes completes the menu.

Philippines: PAPA ORO's

PAPA ORO’s celebrates authentic Philippino family recipes! The restaurant by the Weite Gasse is reminiscent of the traditional "Carinderias" and welcomes its guests directly at the food-bar. Here you get colourful, healthy and tasty bowls served with noodles, steamed or fried rice, garnished with fresh vegetables. Whether grilled chicken with lemongrass, caramelized pork or fried vegetables with tofu - PAPA ORO's food takes every guest on a tour through the depths of Manila or to the beach houses of the tropical Philippine islands. For small appetites there are hand-rolled spring rolls or freshly filled steamed dumplings. Everything is available to enjoy in the restaurant or to take-away.

India: Kanchi

The Restaurant Kanchi is a retreat for connoisseurs of Indian food. The varied, colourful and delicious food as well as the warm and inviting atmosphere bring a little bit of India to Baden. Guests are pampered with excellent service, enjoy fresh ingredients and authentic dishes. From Monday to Friday, you can have lunch at the sumptuous buffet. In the evening, you can choose from the diverse à la carte menu. The Kanchi team puts together individual menus for special occasions, corporate parties or birthdays.

Orient: Nouba Lounge

The Nouba Lounge is located in one of Baden's oldest buildings, the "Haus zum wilden Mann" (House of the Wild Man). The stately cellared vault creates a wonderful setting for the oriental lounge, decorated in a warm, muted colour palette, one feels transported into the world of 1001 nights here. On the menu, you will find delicious mezze, served on a large platter to share, in keeping with Arab heritage. The Nouba Lounge also conjures up entire menus or buffets for those with a hearty appetite and for larger groups upon request. In addition, oriental heritage is celebrated with shishas, belly dancing and various other events.

Spain: Mira

Traditional tapas and modern finger food are the specialities at Mira. The Spanish restaurant has been delighting its guests' palates with exceptional and varied delicacies since 2011. Guests can select the combination of tapas themselves, so that every visit promises to be a new taste experience. A lovingly selected wine list completes the culinary offer. "Mira", by the way, means "have a look" in Spanish. And if you really look inside the cosy restaurant, you will spot a large board with the latest dishes and wines.

USA: Manito

The Manito restaurant is a paradise for burger fans! Made with ingredients from the region – the potatoes for the French fries, for example, come from farmer Umbricht – the burgers and fries are prepared "front of house" in an open kitchen. Seven delicious burgers are on the menu. The homemade iced tea goes with them perfectly! It's no surprise that Manito has developed into a popular meeting place in the short time since its opening in 2016. The concept surrounding Manito is well thought out. It was developed as part of Stefan Konutgan's business management studies, first as a business plan and then as a real project. It's a complete success! ALL NEW: Since October, the popular restaurant has also been available as a pop-up store at Badstrasse 16 – even more space for to taste the tasty burgers!
